If it is within Europe, then healthcare standards will tend to be high and the UK government will reimburse all or part of any state-provided healthcare that you receive abroad, so medical cover need not be so high in this instance.

You may already have some travel cover without realising it. Any private medical plans you have, membership to certain clubs, and even credit card ownership can all include some aspects of travel insurance. So scour your policy details and note down any existing entitlements.
